Possible Mechanisms of Action:
Dexmethylphenidate inhibits the dopamine transporter and, to a lesser degree, the norepinephrine transporter (1). The drug offers a better therapeutic index than racemic threo-methylphenidate hydrochloride (Ritalin®) (2).
